Extravadance & Tumble
About Us
For more than three decades, ExtravaDance & Tumble Performing Arts Center has been a cornerstone of the Kernersville community, inspiring dancers of all ages through movement, creativity, discipline, and connection. Founded in 1993 by Sara Walser and supported by her family and dedicated staff, the studio was built on the belief that dance is about far more than trophies or titles — it is about building confidence, creating friendships, encouraging self-expression, and making lifelong memories.
What began in a small 1,200-square-foot space on Union Cross Road in a barely developed shopping center has grown into an 11,000-square-foot performing arts facility on Masten Drive. Although the studio has grown tremendously over the years, its mission has remained the same: to provide quality dance instruction in a positive, encouraging, and family-centered environment where every child feels valued and inspired.
Now entering its 32nd season in 2026, ExtravaDance & Tumble offers a comprehensive dance and tumbling program for children ages two through eighteen. The studio provides opportunities for students who wish to pursue professional training, college dance teams, and competitive dance, while also creating a welcoming space for students who simply want to enjoy dancing, performing, and building friendships that last a lifetime.

While the studio has achieved continued success in the national competitive dance world, the heart of ExtravaDance also shines through its thriving non-competitive program, which now makes up nearly two-thirds of studio enrollment. These classes are designed for students who love to dance and perform without the pressures of competition, allowing them to experience the joy of recitals, community performances, and shared memories with friends and classmates.
Community involvement has always been an important part of the studio’s identity. ExtravaDance proudly participates in local parades, Christmas tree lightings, school and college athletic events, and seasonal community celebrations throughout the area. The studio also takes great pride in its partnership with Dancers Against Cancer and other local charities, raising funds and giving back to causes that are deeply meaningful to its staff and dance families.
Through every recital, class, competition, and community event, ExtravaDance & Tumble continues to impact generations of dancers and families. More than just a dance studio, it has become a place where children grow in confidence, learn the value of teamwork and dedication, and create memories that will stay with them for years to come.
